JSE-listed South African
telematics company, DigiCore Holdings Limited, recently scooped top
honours in the 'Companies with market capitalization below R3 billion'
category of the prestigious IAS Awards, held in Johannesburg in April
this year.
The IAS (The Investment
Analysts Society of South Africa) hosts the annual awards ceremony
"in recognition of the skills of those listed companies who win
the award for 'Best Communicating and Reporting' during the previous
financial year," states the society's website.

As a global leader in the field of vehicle telematics,
DigiCore is best known for its C-track range of fleet management and
vehicle tracking products, deployed in thousands of private and public
fleets in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Facing tough
competition, this is the first time DigiCore has won the award.
According to DigiCore Holdings CEO, Nick Vlok, "as a
public company, DigiCore goes to great lengths to constantly improve its
communications with investors. It is at top priority to report properly
and transparently every six months to existing and future shareholders.
We are always available to meet one-on-one (except in closed period) with
analysts and shareholders to explain what we are busy with. A lot of time
and effort is spent in preparing our presentations and annual report,
always keeping good corporate governance in mind."
In the wake of the recent global recession, closer
scrutiny is being placed on public companies by the international
investment community, making it all the more important for listed
companies to have a comprehensive communication strategy that includes
all company stakeholders. To ensure its strategy for good corporate
governance remains on-track, DigiCore has enlisted the services of
Professor Ben Marx from the University of Johannesburg, who acts as
chairman on DigiCore's audit and risk committee.
"Our shareholders, customers and staff are equally
important to us. Open communication with stakeholders is of the essence
for the management team. We make a serious effort to, every six months,
be on all radio and TV business programs to ensure our investors know
what we have been up to and are planning for the future. We have
experienced some of the top investment companies approaching us to take
up substantial stakes directly after the presentations and round table
discussions," says Vlok.
The IAS Awards judging panel chose its winners according
to a set of criteria based on the effectiveness of several communication
platforms used by listed companies to report to their investors,
including; live presentations of results with question and answer
sessions, printed annual reports, content-rich websites, audio-visual
material on company performance etc..
"The judges, who are all investment analysts, look
for communications that enhance the quality of their forecasting and
DigiCore just so happens to be a world-leader in the business of
leveraging data into enterprise intelligence, albeit in the automotive
arena. As such, best-practice in reporting is second nature to us. We
also appreciate the fact that the success of our stock is partly based on
the symbiotic relationship we share with investment analysts - accuracy
is everything and by supplying analysts with all the necessary
information, our investors are able to make properly informed decisions
regarding their DigiCore shares," adds Vlok.
With ongoing product R&D and a growing global
footprint, DigiCore is not about to rest on its laurels: "Divulging
our 'future plans' to our stakeholders is an integral part of our
investor-relations' strategy. We have always moved forward with a clear
vision of where the company is headed and over the last ten years as a
public entity, have become very good at communicating that vision
effectively. Winning this award indicates that we are on the right track
and will surely inspire us to do even better in future," Vlok
concludes.
Formed in 1998, DigiCore Holdings is a leading GPS/GSM
vehicle management and tracking solutions provider. It specialises in the
development of cutting edge vehicle monitoring technologies, providing
measurable business and operational benefits to its clients by
facilitating total visibility and control of their mobile assets. The
group's leading products and services have ensured it becomes the most
comprehensive industry service provider in South Africa.
